Behavioral Health Screenings and Nursing Services
Sapient Medical understands no other needs can be properly met if a patient’s mental health isn’t stable. This is why we provide nursing assessments and behavioral health screenings for all registered patients. It’s our responsibility to ensure that our informational, referral, and contact services are capable of practical outcomes prior to patients making independent treatment decisions. If it’s determined that a patient may need behavioral health services, they are assessed by the nurse prior to any referral. This allows the Care Manager to know and sufficiently coordinate all available resources the patient may need.
Care Managers are often first called by the nurse when there is a behavioral health crisis. Care Managers are patients, front-line advocates who know the behavioral health system, know the patient, and can help provide the best care and avoid unnecessary treatment or abuse. Before a crisis occurs, a Care Manager knows a patient’s full mental health history, records all the psychotropics, and has often attended therapy sessions with a patient in the past. They know how to ask questions and bring up concerns with a therapist and can summarize and take notes of the encounter to be discussed afterward with all interested parties.
